Glenmary Senior High Classes Temporarily Transition to Home Learning
Posted: November 2, 2020

To the Parents and Guardians of Glenmary School,
Further to our letter to parents and guardians sent yesterday Sunday, November 1st, we are making a temporary change to our education delivery model. Effective Tuesday, November 3rd, all senior high classes will transition to online learning, and in person classes will resume on Thursday, November 12th. Junior high classes will continue to be delivered in person at school.
In response to the 2 confirmed adult cases at our school, 19 staff members (44% of total staff) are now required to self-isolate until Wednesday, November 11th and can return to school on Thursday, November 12th. We have four additional staff members who could not come to school for a variety of reasons. Thankfully, we have several substitute staff members today who are ensuring we can operate the school. Due to our circumstances, the quality of education is unfortunately in jeopardy. Additionally, we are concerned that if more staff members are required to self-isolate, we will not have enough supervisors to operate the school. In order to provide a higher quality education to students under these circumstances, we feel that temporarily transitioning all senior high classes to online learning is the most effective approach.
This temporary transition will allow staff members to complete their required isolation at home, and would allow students to continue their learning online with their regular teachers.
All senior high students will be contacted by their teacher to begin at-home learning. The delivery methods for at-home learning will be at the discretion of each individual teacher. All junior high students who are self-isolating will also be provided at-home learning from their regular teacher. All other junior high students who cannot attend school for other reasons will be provided at-home learning upon request to their teacher.
Additionally, Chromebooks are available for at-home learners upon request. To submit your request, please fill out this Google Form. To obtain your child’s belongings, please call the school. We require a minimum of one hour of notice before their items can be picked up.
Lastly, all practices and games for sports teams are suspended until Thursday November 12th.
Thank you to our school community for your outstanding flexibility and support,
Betty Turpin, Superintendent and David Amiot, Principal of Glenmary School
